Bellis Book Club

Throughout our adoption journey, we can find solace, understanding, insight, and even some laughs in books that discuss adoption. Most often, these books have been memoirs written by birth mothers, adopted persons, and adoptive parents, although occasionally a novel portrays adoption realistically. As we live through these unprecedented times, when connection is more important than ever, join us each month for a conversation about a book that speaks to the experience of adoption. We have a number of favorite books to share, and we will also feature memoirs by authors within the Bellis community. So, find a favorite place to curl up and dive into a good book. Then come together for discussion and connection with others.

The Bellis Book Club will meet via Zoom. Please check the registration details for the start time (which may change based on participants’ needs related to family schedules).

Bellis Storytelling Circle

Your adoption story is invaluable — to you personally, of course, and to the audiences who hear it. Whether you are a regular Bellis volunteer speaker or just getting started in exploring your story, you are welcome to join the Bellis Storytelling Circle. We’ll be meeting via Zoom through the winter and spring of 2021. The more effectively we communicate our stories, the greater our impact. As we practice the craft of storytelling, we also find perspective and new insights.

Why do we tell our adoption stories? Because they are, without exception, stories of relationships, overcoming adversities, joy, grief, trauma, and resiliency. This unique mix creates a compelling message that can inspire others in their own lives.

The Bellis Storytelling Circle kicks off in January. To get a head start, register for a December 5 professional storytelling workshop by contacting Bellis at info@mybellis.org. Bellis Storytelling Circle will offer supportive practice, encouragement, feedback, cool rewards, and more.

The Bellis Storytelling Circle will meet monthly via Zoom, combining training workshops and practice sessions. Please watch for upcoming information about times and dates.
